I can certainly play through most anything after one week, but to really master a piece can take anywhere from 1 to 6 months, depending on so many variables. But then again, i guess it depends how fast you learn, im a slow learner so i spend lots of time practising. If you need to spend 10 minutes on getting 2 chords right, then spend 10 minutes on it. I will give a student a short piece usually well within their capability one week and expect to hear it from beginning to end the next, no matter how sketchy or ropey the playing might be.
